Waar is la fête ? 

Le 12 juin 2022, it’s a party to close the Neighborhood Contract in style

and of course, the open-air gAallery and Van Aa Street will be part of it!

On the program, among others : 

Espace Rabelais (rue Jules Bouillon) et rue Van Aa (closed for the  occasion)

14:00 > 18:00 : Animations, games for young and old… concocted by all the partners of the Neighborhood Contract and organized by the Urban Renovation Service in collaboration with Patrimoine à roulettes.

> the film «Visages villages», de JR & Agnès Varda – which inspired the idea of the ‘open-air gAallery’ – will be screened in the former INSAS building, in front of the café ‘l’Athénée’

18:00 > 19:00 : DJ-Set by Arnaud Ghys (Van Aa street), photographer and author of the first exhibition of the open-air gAallery ‘Lighthouse’

And in the evening, a barbecue ‘auberge espagnole’ in the garden of the Ixelles Museum.

After the success of a first photo exhibition in the blind windows of the neighborhood around Van Aa street (“Lighthouse” by Arnaud Ghys), we wish to introduce a new photographer from Brussels, Raymond Dakoua.
A new opportunity to embellish the neighborhood, to create a social link through the different animations around this exhibition and to support the culture!

August 29, 2021, Party in Van Aa street

After 2 years without our traditional street party at the end of June, we will finally have the opportunity to meet again – on August 29th – around a drink and surrounded by the beautiful photographs of the .’gAalerie à ciel ouvert’.

Program :

9am : Opening of the van Aa (section between Cité & Viaduc) to children’s games & friendly exchanges between neighbors

1pm : Welcome to the visitors & presentation of the project ‘gAalerie à ciel ouvert’

2pm : Guided tour of the exhibition  ‘Lighthouse’, in the presence of photographer Arnaud Ghys

5:30-7:30 pm : drink of friendship

And don’t hesitate to go to Matong’Art, market, exhibitions, etc., 2 steps away in the Tulipe district!

Our friend and neighbour Christian has passed away

Notre ami et voisin Christian s’en est allé. 😪
Architecte érudit, il en a éclairé plus d’un de ses conseils judicieux, nous permettant notamment de trouver la meilleure solution technique pour la réalisation de la gAalerie à ciel ouvert.
Il a mis en lumière l’histoire du quartier et de son architecture, nous contant celle du familistère “cité Gomand” lors des fêtes des voisins.
Il nous gratifiait de sa bonne humeur quand on le croisait, promenant son chien ou aux concerts de jazz sur la place Fernand Cocq.
Nul doute qu’il continuera à briller en allumant une étoile de plus au firmament.
Nos plus douces pensées accompagnent son épouse Jacqueline et toute sa famille.
